Mark has always loved vampire lore, ancient mythology, and tales of creatures that lurk just beyond the edge of daylight. Driven by the challenge of reimagining centuries-old gothic traditions for a modern generation, he created The Young Vampire Chronicles, an urban fantasy series where gifted youth inherit dangerous bloodlines to defend our world from the creeping darkness of the Suffering.
When not plotting secret conflicts beneath city streets, he can usually be found reading speculative fiction, classic fantasy, and comic books, or strategizing over his favorite tabletop and video games.
The Young Vampire Chronicles began with a single storytelling challenge: how do you take the deep, gothic tradition of vampire lore and reimagine it through the eyes of children without losing its bite?
The answer lies with the Childaar. Across the globe, from bustling metropolitan centers to overlooked cities, young individuals are born into ancient supernatural bloodlines. Gifted with rare vampiric superpowers and thrust into a hidden, worldwide conflict, they must solve perilous mysteries and stand as humanity's shield against the encroaching global threat of the Suffering.
